Esoti Pride

Esoti is a professional model. When in Santa Fe, New
Mexico, earlier this year, I had the opportunity to draw her over the
course
of three days. During this process we learned a little about each
other. Esoti is a strong, compassionate and spiritual woman who is
extremely proud of her heritage.
Using the drawing as an inspiration I created "Esoti
Pride," completely "thread-painted" on canvas. I painted the background
in acrylic in a pattern of "Ram's
horns," an African folk art symbol of humility and strength.
