With a background in graphic design, and a love of art, I approached a crossroads in my life . . . early retirement. What would my creative expression be now?

I experimented with different ideas and various media. Eventually, I realized that I enjoy drawing the most. And faces are my favorite. The face tells a story like nothing else. Who they are, where they've been, what they've seen, and how they feel -- if you look closely, you'll see it in the lines in their faces. And, hopefully, in the lines of my art.
No matter the final media, whether pencil, paint, or pastel; as long as it includes a face, I'm happy creating it.
It begins with a photograph. I like to capture faces of people from different cultures in countries that I visit. When I'm back in my studio, I use these images to create my paintings. Sometimes they are literal translations. Sometimes they are not.
When I'm not in my studio, I'm busy as an independent art curator. In the last six years, I have curated numerous art shows featuring the work of many renowned artists including, Wayne Thiebaud, Lowell Herrero, Stan Dann, Ruth Dicker, Stan Galli, Don Birrell and Earl Thollander. Currently, I'm working on a global art project to benefit Women for Women International titled, Through Her Eyes. You can read more about this project here on my website.
